The Challenge

The Walbusch-Gruppe receives a large number of applications for apprenticeship (Azubi) positions each year. Evaluating candidates with little or no work experience purely based on CVs proved difficult. Additionally, coordinating interviews and communication with candidates was time-consuming, making it challenging to move through the recruitment funnel efficiently.

The team wanted a way to give every candidate a fair chance, while simplifying the process for both HR and hiring managers.

"The automated video interviews helped us a lot because we simply broadened the candidate pool by sending every candidate an invitation to the video interview."

The Solution

Walbusch introduced autonmated video interviews to assess all apprenticeship candidates. Instead of narrowing down the applicant pool early, 90% of applicants were invited to interview — ensuring fairness and enabling a more comprehensive evaluation based on personality and motivation.

Videos could be easily shared with relevant departments, enabling collaborative decision-making and reducing the back-and-forth traditionally required for scheduling.

The Results
Faster Hiring, Better Collaboration

Time-to-Hire shortened significantly, thanks to simplified steps.
All apprenticeship positions were successfully filled using video.
The interview process went from multi-step, in-person evaluations to a streamlined workflow:

  • Application with CV and motivation letter

  • Video interview

  • In-person meeting & trial day

  • Hiring decision

Internal Adoption
Efficient and collaborative

Recruiters and hiring departments worked together more effectively with video interviews. By reviewing candidates’ videos at their convenience, managers could participate actively in selection — without the need for extensive scheduling

The structured, standardised approach improved comparability and fairness, helping teams make faster, more confident hiring decisions.

Candidate Experience

Feedback from candidates was very positive. Video interviews offered a flexible and low-pressure way to present themselves and get noticed — even without extensive experience. The process helped candidates feel seen and valued, contributing to a positive employer brand experience.

""I was selected at the Walbusch Group thanks to the Cammio video. I found it very good because I was able to think about the questions and had several attempts to answer them. This enabled me to answer perfectly.""
